Cultivate Mindful Eating

OUR FOOD PHILOSOPHY: When we first met to discuss the potential of a writing and meditation retreat, it quickly became clear that we both wanted it to be known for featuring delicious, nourishing food. This was an area we put a lot of thought into. We believe when we feed ourselves well, we also feed the muse.

MINDFUL EATING: From the first sit-down dinner after our opening circle, to the closing lunch at the retreat’s conclusion, we create space to slow down, relax, and fully enjoy the meal we’re sharing together. We want it to engage your five senses if possible, to be something that even inspires you to write about it and remember it long after you’ve returned home from the retreat.

LOCALLY SOURCED: We are grateful to partner with some really fabulous businesses in Hood River so we can deliver high-quality, delicious meals to the women who attend our retreats. Whether it’s the family-style breakfasts at Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast, the gourmet lunches and dinner Sirota creates for us at Boda’s Kitchen or the intention and care we receive when dining out at Brian’s Pourhouse, we know you will feel as nourished by the food as we have been by their warmth and hospitality.

Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast: With an emphasis on healthy, fresh food, Seven Oaks is proud to offer our guests gluten-free, vegetarian breakfasts served family style with homemade jams and pastries, honey from their beehive and organic, locally roasted coffees and specialty tea blends. Their delicious eggs are produced on site by their flock, Peckahontas, Jane Feathermore Cooper, Feather Locklear, Goldie Hen and Girlfriends. Due to production issues, Gregory Peck was asked to leave. Learn more at Seven Oaks Bed & Breakfast

Boda’s Kitchen: Boda’s Kitchen is a gourmet delicatessen, market, and catering company. Sirota, the owner, is passionate about using high quality, seasonal ingredients sourced locally when possible. Boda’s delivers warm meals to our retreats for dinner on Friday night and lunch on Saturday. On Sunday, participants can choose one of their delicious salads or sandwiches to be eaten either at Seven Oaks or taken on the road to their next destination. Learn more at Boda’s Kitchen

Brian’s Pourhouse: Located in a cute gray house on Oak St in downtown Hood River, Brian’s is a must stop for anyone looking for a wide range of fine foods and drinks served in a delightful and comfortable atmosphere. Their chefs source the best local ingredients to create a special menu for each of our retreats. Learn more at Brian’s Pourhouse
